What are the exams needed to become an Actuary?
There are 2 societies for Actuaries: SOA (Society of Actuaries) and CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society). It is up to you to decide which pathway to pursue. However, both societies require the same first 2 exams - FM (Financial Mathematics) and P (Probability) - which are usually completed in college or right after graduation. Most actuaries base the society they purse off of the company they find their first job in. The pathway to earn a Fellowship in each society is pictured below.
